Childhood of Shellen Arga In the quiet hours of September 30, 1998, a spark ignited within the Arga household. Little did they know, the arrival of the baby girl, Shellen marked the inception of a creative force that would leave an indelible impact on the entrepreneurial landscape. As the creativity is already in her name; the combination of Shirley and Allen – Shellen. Born from a pastor/teacher father and an accountant mother, Shellen’s upbringing in a disciplined environment set the stage for a life characterized by balance and structure. Shellen’s journey unfolds like a captivating novel, weaving through different chapters of creativity, self-discovery, and entrepreneurship. From her early years in the area of Bennie’s Park in Suriname to her current endeavors as a Business student at UNASAT, her story is one of resilience and passion. As a Christian, Shellen found comfort and peace in books during her teenage years, waiting for her father in the library of CCS. Little did she know that her love for storytelling would find its roots during an English class in high school, where Role Play became the spark for her creative endeavors. Shellen’s journey through different career paths, from radiology to tourism, reflects the common struggle of creative minds searching for their true calling. Yet, her path took a decisive turn when she ventured into ICT at UNASAT, a choice that would shape her future in unexpected ways, or so she thought. During a family vacation, her father’s camera became a gateway to the world of videography is where it began for Shellen. The joy of recording and editing videos sparked a creative flame, leading her to pursue courses in Adobe and Colors, laying the foundation for her future endeavors. The turning point came when Shellen was fighting corporate depression. She stated that an 8 to 4 job didn’t fit her creative soul. For a few months, she felt like the routine of the job drained her tremendously. After evaluation and asking several questions to herself, she realized that she still had a life ahead of her and that working in routine was not what she wanted for the rest of her life. She was seeking for her purpose and her heart was at capturing people’s personal stories in a creative way which made her happy. Her Impact Mentorship played a crucial role in Shellen’s entrepreneurial story. From her first job at Vurge Media to her second at SIB Signs and Designs, mentors guided her through the intricacies of editing, social skills, and networking. These experiences laid the groundwork for her leap into entrepreneurship. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Shellen dared to dream. With fear and insecurities, she dared to step out of her comfort zone. Armed with determination and support from her mentor, and then employer, she founded her own company in May 2020, delving into the visual industry without the necessary equipment. The initial challenges only fueled her drive and belief to succeed. Shellen’s entrepreneurial journey is marked by personal projects like “A Woman Like Me,” “10 Things Before 20,” and “Ten Jobs Before 21.” These endeavors not only showcased her talent but aimed to inspire others to step out of their comfort zones and make a meaningful impact. Her upcoming documentary, set to launch in 2025, visualizes the journey of a Javanese young woman representing her culture. Shellen Arga Productions God and the people around her are the ones who helped Shellen grow as a person and her business. Shellen Arga Productions started the first year by hiring camera gear to be able to do projects. Thanks to the support of her parents, especially her mother who helped develop the discipline of saving money, prayers, and her commitment she was able to pursue her goals and growth in business. The first year of entrepreneurship brought challenges and unbalanced moments, but Shellen persevered. She took all the projects she could to grow her clientele. At first, her target group consisted of everyone who offered projects. As long as it fitted into her agenda, she would take it. The target group changed over the years. As she started with her projects for clients, she did more testimonials and meaningful projects except for weddings, parties, and after-movies. She started her business without any equipment. In the first year, she hired equipment to work. That motivated her to save up to buy her own laptop and camera gear. From taking every project possible to build up her portfolio and guarantee an income, Shellen is now taking on projects that are meaningful to her. She puts quality over quantity. Storytelling is what she does mainly with her business and where her heart lies. Lessons Learned Being an entrepreneur can be very challenging. Valuable lessons Shellen learned were the determination from hiring equipment to the nuances of teamwork. Having a team to work with and directing them is also one of the many lessons learned. Especially with the difference in vision. It can be hard to clearly explain the vision of projects with other creative minds, especially to keep a certain quality. Sometimes the growth could be compared to a moving train. Shellen didn’t start with a business plan or the usual way to start a business, so sometimes she had to take a step back and realize where she was, and what she wanted and then make a decision. Another challenge Shellen faced, in the beginning, was sharing her price for clients with the fear of losing them. That resulted in not knowing exactly what projects to accept and which not. As Shellen looks back at her journey, her heart lies in scriptwriting. Capturing testimonials is one of the meaningful projects she embraces. A recent milestone she reached was her first international project in Miami with Lili’s Foundation. Closing Remarks from Shellen Shellen’s message to aspiring entrepreneurs echoes with wisdom. She emphasizes the importance of mentorship, self-care, and perseverance. In the face of economic challenges, she urges young entrepreneurs to stay focused on their goals, pray,
As the home of Silicon Valley and global success stories from Google to Apple, the United States tops the global ranking of the best countries to be an entrepreneur. With a highly-skilled workforce, competitiveness and openness for business, as well as having easy access to capital for entrepreneurs, the U.S. rates highly across the board. The country comes first in the overall “best countries for entrepreneurship” index, 2021. The Entrepreneurship Index, compiled by the CEOWORLD magazine, evaluates a total of 100 economies which collectively account for 95 percent of global gross domestic product. The overall ranking considers a wide range of factors to create an overall “best countries for entrepreneurship” index, including innovation, competitiveness, infrastructure, labor skills, access to capital, and openness for business. Starting a business anywhere takes grit, determination, and a marketable idea, but certain economies make it just a little bit easier for entrepreneurs to get off the ground. If you’re looking for the best country to build a business, you may not have to look far. What are the most entrepreneurial countries in the world? The United States has been recognized as the world’s most entrepreneurial country, according to the CEOWORLD magazine Entrepreneurship Index, 2021, while Germany and the United Kingdom placed second and third, respectively. The 2021 rankings placed Israel in fourth ahead of the United Arab Emirates into fifth; while Poland ranked sixth, and Spain seventh. Overall, among the top 10 most entrepreneurial countries, the eighth, ninth, and tenth positions are held by Sweden, India, and France. Australia took the No. 11 spot, followed by Estonia (No.12) and Ireland (No.13). Meanwhile, Malaysia ranked No. 14 in the CEOWORLD magazine’s ranking of the world’s most entrepreneurial economies for 2021. Saudi Arabia came in fifteenth place, followed by South Korea (sixteenth), Canada (seventeenth), the Philippines (eighteenth), and Denmark, ranked nineteenth. To evaluate those dimensions, researchers looked at 18 indicators that fell into one of the 6 categories. An index has been created scoring the individual indicators on a scale of 1-100. Each individual indicator was given equal weighting within each of the 6 categories with some indicators being comprised of 2-3 sub-indicators that were also weighted equally. The study is based on a detailed global survey conducted between 19 October and 24 December 2020 by the CEOWORLD magazine in Partnership with the Global Business Policy Institute (GBPI) of 120,000 participants. CEOWORLD magazine put together a panel of experts to go over data points culled from sources like the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), World Economic Forum, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), U.S. News & World Report, the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council, and the World Bank. Based on a consensus from these sources, the final choice of countries was judged editorially, as was their position on the list. All data is for the most recent period available. Some countries and territories were not included in the official statistics for various reasons, primarily due to the lack of necessary data. Also, countries and territories with low initial scores were excluded from the list as the comparison would create misleading results. This ranking should not be viewed as the most important aspect when choosing a place to build a business, and are merely one element to consider. The rankings are the result of a rigorous analytical exercise,

Arrow Business Academy is a startup powered by OneShot International. At the Launch of the OneShot Digital Business Platform in Suriname, Mr Frans Eersteling, Management Advisor of Arrow Business Academy shared the importance of a digital business academy for developing countries to drive education for professionals using local content at a higher level which will be creating a digital (pre-recorded) alternative to in-class training since this is much cheaper and also providing off-line possibilities for those who don’t have access to internet. Digital learning will be substantial for growth towards international standards. “Suriname and Guyana are at a point in their economies where developing their human capital is essential to further drive nationwide transformation utilizing their own local resources as much as possible. Business Education will play an important role in this regard. Especially with the Oil and Gas developments it is of tremendous importance to grant every local entrepreneur, professional and anybody who qualifies to support this transition the opportunity to grow together, create job opportunities and climb the ladder out of poverty. The past years we have always outsourced several major projects to international companies or people from developed countries because local resources were considered not fully capable to support these major projects. Well, this is the time to get our human capital ready by upgrading skills, knowledge and capabilities grow anytime, anywhere utilizing local content from the digital education platform Arrow powered by OneShot International via www.arrow.sr” – Frans Eersteling About OneShot: OneShot International is a Digital Business Accelerator focused on supporting people with bright business or social ideas in developing countries to scale and make a difference in the world. Exactly a month after the Launch of the digital business platform OneShot in Suriname the company based in USA California, has now completed the launch of its platform in the developing countries Guyana and Suriname. In July 2022 Guyana Nation’s newspaper, Guyana Chronicle reported the potential of this for companies in Guyana in the article “US-based tech company eyes local partnerships”. In Suriname, the launch of this platform was done in January 2023 in Courtyard by Marriott in front of a strategic group of business professionals and hundreds who joined the LIVE session online from several parts of the world, also the launch was broadcasted LIVE on the national TV station in Suriname the STVS. The launch of this platform in Suriname was facilitated by the speakers Mr. Anvit Ramlakhan, Chairman of ICT Association Suriname, Mr. Marlon Joseph President and Founder of Together We Win Business Network Guyana, Mr. Frans Eersteling Management Advisor of Arrow Business Academy and Mr. Renato Archer Founder and CEO of OneShot International. In the past months, the OneShot platform has grown with hundreds of entrepreneurs from Suriname, Guyana, and the USA and is improving rapidly, making it one of the key platforms for people in developing countries to Start, Build, and Grow a digital business internationally. In an interview with the Founder and CEO of OneShot International Renato Archer, he said: “ The aim of the OneShot digital business platform is to become the bridge to “Silicon Valley’s Ecosystem” for those in developing countries who want to do business internationally. We do this by bringing them all the business resources needed to make their innovative ideas come true, since traveling to “Silicon Valley” is very expensive and doesn’t guarantee success”. Silicon Valley is a region in Northern California (USA) that serves as a global center for high technology and innovation. Silicon Valley (SV) is the home to many of the world’s largest high-tech corporations (and startup companies) like Google, Facebook, YouTube, and many more. SV also accounts for one-third of all venture capital investment in the United States which has helped it to become a leading hub and startup ecosystem for high-tech innovation in the world where ideas that serve society are being supported to turn into successful businesses. Archer mentioned that in his opinion, these tech giants based in developed countries solve huge topics for the world and in several instances, the solutions are beneficial to the underdeveloped as well, for instance, WhatsApp, but there are many challenges that developing countries still face that are not served and not on a clear solution agenda to be solved because they only occur in developing countries. For instance: Education is still a topic in rural areas of developing countries like Suriname, Guyana, and many more without a clear solution ahead leaving millions of young people with no future; Entrepreneurship is at an all-time low and declining in several of these countries looking to the World Bank Ease of Doing business report from 2019. Suriname ranked 162/190 and Guyana 134/190 which will eventually impact new startups and lead to fewer extra job opportunities; 70-90% of financial transactions in Suriname and Guyana are still done in cash creating tremendous challenges for the economy, the people, and the adaption of new solutions to drive economic growth. Guyana is leading this region currently in a booming state with the Oil and Gas findings (Suriname and Trinidad following) which projects tremendous growth to the economy, but still, Guyana has several challenges with regards to human capital not fully being ready to support this world-class transformation that is required. Instead of outsourcing all of the key opportunities to perform this transformation to international companies, the local population needs to bring the “Innovative Mindset” to these countries so they can become self-sufficient and gain maximum from their natural resources. OneShot is established in California, near Silicon Valley to be the bridge for digital business startups in developing countries in order to boost entrepreneurs in these nations to take ownership of challenges in their countries. The goal is to facilitate the critical thinking process and drive digital business innovation which will lead to the development of several Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to grow internationally which will in the end deliver personal and economic growth. OneShot will in this regard grant access to an international professional network, venture capital, coaching, and mentoring needed to achieve this goal. OneShot has a strategic plan with several international partners from Suriname, Guyana, and the USA to drive sustainable solutions for challenges in developing countries. If you are a business professional and you share this same mission in your business strategy we would encourage you to become a partner. If you want to Start, Build, or Grow your own international business join us at www.oneshot.sr and stay tuned for the upcoming opportunities! OneShot Media

We will explore the compelling reasons why taking the entrepreneurial leap can be a life-changing decision. Pursue Your Passion: Starting your own business allows you to follow your passion and turn it into a profitable venture. Unlike traditional employment, where you may be limited to a specific role or industry, entrepreneurship empowers you to create something meaningful based on your interests and strengths. By aligning your work with your passions, you are more likely to find fulfillment and motivation, leading to a higher quality of life. Embrace Independence: One of the most enticing aspects of entrepreneurship is the freedom it offers. As a business owner, you have the autonomy to make decisions, set your own schedule, and shape the direction of your company. This level of independence allows you to escape the constraints of a 9-to-5 job and fully explore your potential. Moreover, you have the power to create a company culture that aligns with your values and vision. Unlimited Growth Opportunities: Starting your own business presents a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth. As an entrepreneur, you are constantly learning and adapting, facing new challenges, and acquiring new skills. This dynamic environment forces you to step out of your comfort zone and develop a versatile skill set. Whether it’s in marketing, finance, leadership, or negotiation, the learning curve is steep, but the rewards are limitless. Financial Rewards: While financial gain shouldn’t be the sole motivator for starting a business, entrepreneurship offers the potential for substantial financial rewards. By building a successful enterprise, you can create a stable income stream and achieve financial security. Additionally, as the owner, you have the ability to control your financial destiny, with the opportunity to scale your business and multiply your earnings. Impact and Legacy: Entrepreneurship provides a platform to make a positive impact on society. By solving problems, addressing unmet needs, or improving existing products and services, you can shape the world around you. Through your business, you have the power to create jobs, contribute to the economy, and inspire others. The legacy you leave behind can extend far beyond your immediate reach, making a lasting difference in the lives of others. Flexibility and Work-Life Balance: For many, achieving a healthy work-life balance is a constant struggle. However, as an entrepreneur, you have the opportunity to design a work environment that supports your personal needs and priorities. While starting a business requires dedication and hard work, it also allows you to create a schedule that suits your lifestyle. This flexibility enables you to spend more time with loved ones, pursue hobbies, and prioritize self-care. Conclusion: Starting your own business is a transformative journey that offers numerous advantages and rewards. It enables you to pursue your passion, attain independence, and experience personal and professional growth. The financial benefits, impact on society, and the ability to design your own work-life balance further strengthen the case for entrepreneurship. While the road to success may be challenging, the possibilities are endless.
